"HONOURING THE VOICES AND CHOICES OF OUR RESIDENTS"
Situated in Howick, KZN, in the Amber Valley Retirement Village, you will find Amber Valley Care Centre. This well appointed Centre offers a person centred approach to care for our ageing population. Offering 24 hour nursing care, full board, tempting food and a home from home environment, our aim being to allow our residents to move seamlessly from one stage of ageing to the next.
Beautiful surroundings, manicured grounds, trout dams, picnic spots and a variety of birdlife make this an ideal place to refire or retire! The coffee shop offers treats for those who wish to enjoy time with family or friends and there are numerous activities that are organised for residents in the village. Whether your interests are reading, walking, music or dance – the village has something for everyone.
The Care Centre has single bedrooms, large lounges to encourage social interaction - be it informal chatting or more formal activities which are offered on a daily basis. The wide corridors and light, airy rooms that are furnished by the resident make this a happy environment. Double rooms can be arranged.
Our Care Centre's vision is to allow each person to age gracefully, with the necessary help afforded for the activities of daily living as and when required. It is our vision to ensure that each resident is honoured as an independent being who is still able to enjoy the freedom of choice in matters that directly affect their lives on a daily basis. A reality of our living to greater ages is the onset of senile dementia, Alzheimer's disease and the various age related diseases such as Parkinson's disease, diabetes etc. All too often we find children, who themselves are pensioners, having to care for an aged parent. Trying to deal with this as well as the pressure of their own lives makes this a very stressful period with conflicted feelings of anger, grief and guilt being experienced by the primary care giver. The Care Centre offers a holistic approach where all aspects of wellness are taken into account. This means that each individual's needs are taken into account and every effort is made to ensure that their needs are accommodated. Short term stays, respite care, palliative care or rehabilitative care is also available.
The village offers a wide range of activities and includes a well balanced option so that physical, spiritual and social activities are catered for. These include various sports and exercises, church activities, bridge, games as well as many concerts and talks being available to anyone who chooses. While some activities are charged for many are available at no additional cost.
