OUTING TO YELLOWWOODS COUNTRY HOMESTEAD
On Monday October 15th, 47 members of the Greater Ambers Garden Club visited Yellowwoods Country Homestead, situated a couple of kilometres from the Balgowan turnoff on the N3.
We were warmly greeted by our hosts, Meryn and John Turner, with Meryn, a bubbly personality, enthusing about her passion for the garden and the 1880 stone house which has been lovingly restored.
OUTING TO WEDGEWOOD ON 17TH SEPT
The excellent turnout to this venue was, I’m willing to wager, the famous name of Wedgewood. Delicious nougat beckoned!!
We were all seated in the open in front of really innovative wood & iron structures built by the Wedgewood brothers, giving “wood and iron” housing a whole new meaning!!
Here comes summer
Bird Walks
From October onwards our bird walks will start at 6 o’clock, so I guess that means that summer is here. Our walks continue to be well supported, and even in the middle of winter at least 4 or 5 people always turned up. The variety and number of birds that we see is amazing, and Deryck Day always gives us the latest news in his Bird Chatter article.

The first home of our Ambers library was part of the building, up at the Main Gate, which now houses the workshop. This building served as the clinic, the office, a library, and a dining room for the first few years. Books began to be donated and the start of a library was born.
